Varsity Scouting is a program of the Boy Scouts of America for youth ages 14 through 17. It is now a time-honored program chosen for youths who are ready for new experiences and responsibilites and was developed as a way to keep older boys challenged physically and mentally. It forms a bond between Scouting principles and the values and objectives of individual chartered organizations. The Varsity Scout team focuses on five program fields of emphasis.
1.Advancement
2.High-Adventure/Sports Activities
3.Personal Development
4.Service
5.Special Programs and Events
These 5 fields combine to provide the Varsity Scout with a new, more involved way of Scouting. Each field of emphasis is headed by one of the youths, called a program manager. This provides the scouts with more responsibility as well as helps them prepare for the future through leadership.
