Idaho now has a special license plate for the Boy Scouts! It will be a plate illustrated in the same colors as the centennial license plates. Special license plates are made to provide revenue to what ever activity they commemorate. The state department of motor vehicles charges an extra thirty-five dollars for special license plates. Twenty five dollars of that amount will go directly to the Snake River Council from the counties in our boundaries where the plate was purchased. The other ten dollars goes to the Idaho Transportation Department as administrative fees for the making of the special license plates and the administration charges of the special license program. Each year that you renew your boy Scout license plates the Snake River Council will receive fifteen dollars of the annual twenty-five dollar renewal fee. Your cost: Thirty-five dollars for the initial plates and twenty-five dollars each year after to renew them. If you have any questions about the Idaho state special license plate program you may call the Idaho Transportation Department at: 208-334-8679. Any questions about the Boy scout plate and how it came about may be directed to Louis B. Olaso at:
